Choosing your instruction
Competitive coaching should connect technical work to decisions, routines, practice quality, and performance under pressure. Look for a coach who starts with your schedule and scoring patterns rather than making tournament experience a generic label.
Before you choose
Not necessarily. Competitive coaching can support players preparing for an event or structured season at different levels. Be clear about your current scoring, experience, schedule, and realistic performance goal.
Bring recent scores or statistics if available, an event calendar, and a concise account of where shots are being lost. That gives a competitive coach more context than swing video alone.
It can, but lesson formats vary. Ask whether the competitive coach offers on-course work or strategy review and how those services are priced and scheduled.
Allow enough time to assess, practice, and test changes before competition. A competitive coach can help decide whether the immediate priority should be technique, scoring decisions, routines, or simply preparation with your current motion.
Start with fit, not guesswork
